Man, I really want shows to go on eariler, especially on weakdays. Matinee style. I don't know if I'm getting old or what, but I like it to show up on time and it seems I'm waiting around alone... a lot! haha Doesn't it seem like it'd be a whole lot different if shows started at 8. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

no kidding. some of us have day jobs and stuff, not to mention being tired from the day job before we even get to the show. i'm all for staying up late on the weekends, but i don't really like to stay out past, say 12 on a weeknight. i got really annoyed at the fact that mira calix played for what seemed like 2.5 hours before takemura and then AGAIN for an hour before finally plaid went on in SF a couple of months ago. not to mention the fact that i thought she sucked anyway. -rachel (aka dj pie) -- piesarenice.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

You've got the forces of the rave scene, the indie electronic scene, and oldness/having a job coming all together. Its tough to do shows that bridge the gap, because kids expecting a show come at 8pm, and get sleepy by 12, often kids expecting rave/party flava don't show till 12. I've been trying to do things that start around 8 and go till 3. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reading, John" <john.reading@us.didata.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 3:35 PM Subject: RE: [idm] BRAINDANCE live review

you know, I wish more people were down with the getting in early thing. We always plan to start our live acts at around 11 but end up pushing back until 12 or soometimes 1 because people tend to show up really late. It would be great to say "sorry, you missed it" but for the artists sake we tend to wait until theres a nice crowd. Ideally I'd love it if a show started at 9 (giving people time to grab dinner) and people showed up but in NYC it just doesn't seem to be something that will happen. In our case, we don't get the "kids" at all, everyone seems to be between 24 and 30 and employed yet for some reason they just like to roll in super late. adesh http://www.recordcamp.com -----Original Message----- From: cutups [mailto:cutup@andythepooh.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 12, 2002 5:45 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] BRAINDANCE live review You've got the forces of the rave scene, the indie electronic scene, and oldness/having a job coming all together. I think it's called taking a disco nap. You come home, chill, pop a cold one, nap a bit, get up and dressed and presto chango, you're out the door by 11 pm.
