fatima miranda
this may be somewhat off topic, but has anyone ever seen her perform
live? she is amazing... what with the singing, pantomime, dance, video
and lighting etc. ... revitalizes onstage art, and makes an interesting
point of reference for people who like cutup stuff and improv. ... i saw
her a few years ago when she came to mexico city, and her music, which
is all her own work, was very original... a one woman show... i heard
she has also participated in the recordings of mexican musician Julio
Estrada's "Pedro Paramo" based on the book by also mexican Juan Rulfo,
an electroacoustic rendering (sadly there would seem to be little going
on in this front lately, in these parts)... which i heard on the radio
here once, but may be an unfinished work, etc. ... anyway she was one of
the voices for the main female character... Eduviges i think it was...
(so also check out mr. Estrada's stuff if you can, last i heard he was
living in paris, so hit him up for a listen you paris-dwellers...)
i would love it if anyone could hook me up with audio or video of her
performances, as i have grown nostalgic for hearing her, and can't find
a thing other than on some comps... if you get a chance in spain or the
u.s., or wherever she is touring now, it is very worthwile to check out
her shows... musically very sapient and playful, even emotional or
masterful... really hard to be praiseful enough : )
