I know exactly what you mean, Adam. I, of course, am a music fanatic, but my boyfriend is even more so. He has a system of listening to all our new music whereby he will select about 10 CD's for the "listening pile" and randomize the tracks, writing a 1-2 line review for each track after hearing it once. Then he will have to go back and read what he wrote about each track to find the ones he liked (stand-out tracks specially marked)! I, on the other hand, pick two or three CD's and listen to them in full over and over (usually in my car) until I know them well. I've always done that because --like you-- I was only able to buy perhaps 1 CD per month and I knew them intimately. So he's heard a lot more than me... but I eventually know certain albums better :-) He can't understand how I can listen to a full CD, then when it's over, listen to it again from the beginning! Mind you, he listens in depth because he needs to hear everything the first time so that he can describe the music. I get an overall sense of the track the first time I hear it, and then on each succesive listening I hear more and more into it. But anyway, now *I'm* rambling! Bye now.... must get back to work. Music intimacy is goood. -Sharon np: Gimmik - eineGesichte (~10th listen since a week ago) Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... -----Original Message----- From: Adam Piontek [mailto:apiontek@yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2001 11:41 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] short apology That's all - just a short apology for writing in so much lengthy stuff in the past 20-30 minutes. It wasn't all that necessary as I sorta kept repeating myself, so, I'm sorry :/ -Adam --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
