Hiya,
My name is Bill Powell and I'm new to this list. Incindentally I think you
have a great idea. I believe that a therimon can be constructed to
accomadate such a display, but I'm no electro engineer kind of person. I
just think I've seen this type of thing before. There's some guy in ontario
ca that has designed his own light activated therimons. Don't ask me how
these work but he uses them in live performances. He has also invented his
own sorta... err, drum machine, a drum kit hooked up to a computer that
sequences these sticks and hammers and stuff, and they have a sort of A.I.
randomness goin on. Perhaps this adds something for the audience to watch
during a live performance. Funny that the music ends up sounding pretty
ordinary colledge radioish/new-wave acousticky (definition?? nah I'm
lazy)... despite all the techno gear. I think the guy had a band called
"octavia", but I can't seem to remember much us right now unfourtunately.
I'll keep looking around the web.
P.S.-one last annoying tidbit/s, Jimi Page used a theremin to great effect,
did he have the damn thing hooked to his guitar? ... Ok hook it up to your
laptop, or whatever and jam. Hmm, no this is nothing new. I'd rather see
someone like Kid606 collaborate with some anime people,... FLCL 2!!
hehe Ok, give everyone in the audience a joy stick, let the artist
decide who controls this huge robotic arm that in turn controls the
theremin. If he's a pig he'll get some lovely lady to,... uhm ok never mind
my private fantasies.
I'm not going to tell you what a theremin is, I'd rather let someone
else more capable do that for you.
