i gotta say ... this is a good strategy ... i accidentally wiped an entire disk of sequences (didn't lose the samples fortunately) 2 nights before a show. after the obligatory swearing and screeching, i got back to work on it and managed to improve everything... it turned out to be a total blessing. my newest strategy is to create all new tracks for every show and try to rehearse as little as possible to make sure nothing gets stale ... i guess it's a noble goal but only if we're playing live less than once a month... anyway, keep on deleting. josh -- String Theory : Digital Music for Humans http://www.enteract.com/~yoshi/index.cgi --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I played a set this weekend and managed to make my laptop unable to boot about three hours before I was supposed to play (note: NT4 Zip drivers don't work under Windows 2000) and had to go over to a friends house and reinstall the OS from CD (since it treated the ZIP as a boot device it wouldn't boot and even if I booted to the console and disable the ZIP service, the SCSI was still fucked)... I actually downloaded the driver for my soundcard while the DJ was playin his last record (big up having a network connection within reach of the DJ table). -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@curiousnetworks.com http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
