Nurse With Wound = genius, totally inspiring, madness, magic! Since I'm a big fan and you're just getting started, I'll break some of the best releases down by style (roughly), as they are quite different. Funniest = "Sylvie and Babs High Thigh Companion" Catchy, Loungey = "Cooloorta Moon" (Can be found on CD on the excellent "Sugar Fish Drink" collection, which btw would be a great first purchase) Most rhythmic = "Rock n Roll Station" (a great album, it's NWW with more upfront beats than usual) Droniest = "Soliloquy For Lilith" (gorgeous string drones filling 2 Cds or a vinyl boxset) Full on hellish noise = "The Ladies Home Tickler", with "150 Murderous Passions" a close second Quiet (almost B. Gunter-esque, we're talkin' silent here): "A Missing Sense" Spooky = "Homotopy to Marie" (perhaps my fave) Free Jazz / Improv = "Chance Meeting on A Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella" Also not to be missed: The "Simple Headphone Mind" collaboration with Stereolab is an absolute classic and can be found on CD on a double CD called "The Swinging Reflective" which collects all of NWW's collaboration with people like TIny Tim, Coil, Stereolab, Current 93 etc. In short, if you're a more idm-ish person, I'd say start with "Rock N Roll Station" (either as a single CD or on the 2 cd version which is called "Second Pirate Session") or "Sugar Fish Drink" and then work out from there. There's loads more releases but this should get you started. a hopeless Nurse With Wound geek, Drew --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
