hey all :)
with regard to john carpenter's soundtrack to 'sentinel returns', which
is/was a Playstation (+PC?) game, a remake of a classic and very weird old
80s title where you had to get to the top of a virtual hill without the
sentinel seeing you, i believe..
i once spoke to someone musician-related at Psygnosis, where the title was
produced, and I think he said that John Carpenter sent them a tune
or partial tune and endorsed it, and they sorta 'constructed' it from there.
so maybe music 'in the style of John Carpenter' might be closer ;) So, umm,
caveat emptor and stuff.. They gave away an mp3 of one of the tracks on some
PC magazine around the time, tho, I did have it at some point but have no
idea where it is now.. i'd imagine he hardly has time to do entire videogame
soundtracks right now, anyhow (I quite liked "Vampires".)
so what john carpenter stuff _is_ available? I think i saw an "Escape
From.." CD with music from both movies floating around? hm, did a quick
search on CDDB (or 'Gracenote', as it is now..) and they claim about 18
albums, including a compilation with the "Assault On Precinct 13" stuff on
it - but some/all of that may be bootlegs, which is the only downside of
CDDB.
regards,
h0l :)
ps - ftp://mirror.support.nl/pub/mono/98/m_ewi.zip is an old Mono211 .MOD
release which is, coincidentally enough, a tribute to John Carpenter by
Linus - it's called "Ewiges Eis".. apologies for subliminal plug, it's just
relevant.
