hey guys - i sent this thanks to david(solenoid) and thought y'all might enjoy hearing how wild and crazy the idm scene gets in portland.
hey - came and caught the show, and to belie my high-school heavy metal
root - y'all ROCKED!!! no, seriously, i really dug it a lot! the
head-banging, throwin' devil horns, and all that lesporn - it was just so
over the top and true to the heavy metal aesthetic that i just had to love
it. refusing to sing iron man until the crowd helped was especially
realistic - i once went to a metallic show where james refused to play until
the crowd cheered to him loudly enough. i kinda thought, damn i spent a lot
to go to this concert(being a young, only working part time guy) and sat
down in protest. damned good stuff! i'm just sad that i'm getting into the
experimental electronic scene in portland so late in my relatively short
life span. i definitely plan on hitting the jasmine tree for all of the
hypnotica shows i can before it stops!
thanks again for the GREAT show!!!

solenoid played: i love rock 'n' roll(joan jett), hells bells(ac/dc), round 'n' round(ratt), iron man(black sabbath, duh),and a song each by metallica and judas priest which i don't remember the names of.
especially cool was running the mic through heavy fx to make the vocals sound like satanic robots from hell :) and, the solenoid boys were sportin' cool metal shirts just like i wore in high school - iron maiden(somewhere in time - my 1st concert, btw) and death angel(rockin', LONG-haired philipino thrash metal kids). so over the top, it just had to be utterly enjoyable.
btw, i'm sure all you kids in the portland area know this, but the hypnotica shows happen the last friday of every month at the jasmine tree(sw4th & Harrison - not too far from psu - my old school), but only until november. someone, please take over, please!
