Ho ho indeed! ;`)
Well, anything already officially released can be called a classic in my
view. I tend to use the word instant classic for anything I hear on first few
listens that is truly brilliant. And when left some time to mature these
tracks/ releases can really reach another sublime level of appreciation -
however the tracks I will mainly feature tonight will be of course well
matured tracks.
I suppose the purpose of the Classic Rewind series is to dig up a side of
electronic music which may have been confined to the historical memory vaults
by those who were around at the time, or to be made available to those who
are fairly new to this form music and want to have an opportunity to listen
back in time to what was.
Just following on from the Classic Rewind which started on the program at the
turn of the century when I decided to dedicate the last 2 shows of the '90s
to the best electronic music released during the decade. This was a very
difficult thing to do - compressing 10 years worth of great music into 4 hrs,
but there is no limit to this series and I will be doing flashback specials
every now and then, when the need arises to drag that ole wax or cd from the
archives. When the Ambient Zone website is established soon, I'll make the
show archives (playlists) available on line. In future I will also be hoping
to set up MP3 streaming archives of shows for anyone that missed it during
the week.
Stay tuned, and thanks again to everyone who has supported the program (on
behalf of myself and the lovely co-host Emma Love).
Best regards,
A_Zed
