I received one yesterday, and was rather pleased by the contents. Looking back through the original V/VM mail announcing this release (used the EXCELLENT searchable IDM database--many kudos to Dan!), I see that "each custom hand made box will house it's own mild man jan CD which will contain one exclusive track per disc (made from noises culled from the boxes construction)." My Q: would other owners care to describe their boxes? Perhaps a brief run-down of the tracks (or track times) so that we may start identifying them (or did someone do that already)? I can't seem to find anything like this on any website out there. FWIW: My box is circular, about the size of a small film tin, completely covered in dark grey velvety cloth. The CDR sits in a depression in the center, and a hinged cover closes over it rather like a toilet lid, velcroed shut with a cloth strap stretching across the top and connecting to the bottom of the box. The music? I've only given it one cursory listen, but first track is near 20 min. of silence (as far as I can tell), the second track made the dogs outside howl in pain, and the last/11th track was a NICE beaty thing with lots of distorted tweakings. Oh, one of the tracks rips W. Carlos for about a minute. My box is designed sort of like a fence...each (front/back) side is a row of seven squared and thick pieces of wood which are alternately painted white. "MMJ" is emblazoned on the front. It's held together by multicolored wiring on the side which actually threads through the inside of the "fencing" and terminates on the opening side with a resistor/capacitor or some electrical doohickey. The inside is lined with canvas and it's held closed by a belt/beltbuckle. Very cool, very clever. The cd-rom portion is loads of fun...and while the audio portion was a little shy, MMJ made it up to me. Nice mantle-piece and an heirloom for my children (should I ever have any :-) jeff -- jeff "10,000 people all screaming the same thing at the same time are wrong, even if they're right." dancing/about/architecture "...with wandering steps and slow..."
