In my trawl thru the £1.00 section, down Record & Tape at Camden today, found this verrrry interesting one, was well impressed! - Society/ Occult Diplomacy 12. (released: Jan, 26th 1998) (Recordings Undre Construction, Stockholm, Sweden) A1 - Riding her B1 Entering it It sounds very Aphex/Squarepushie, full of incredibly tangled, fucked up beats, lush minor chords weaving a dark run thru a maze in the background, sounds like a mental choirboy alone in a dark cathedral at night, playing mayhem on the organ, having fun testin out all the keys, knobs & pedals, fuckin up the church music to the limits, swellin the cathedral with insane ungodly sounds, then suddenly breaking into a calm with his pure soprano voice echoing though the dark ... On the inner sleeve, it says this about Society :- "Society is Krister Linder and Katarina Eriksson. As always from those two, this is very personal sounding electronic music. Fierce, hard-attacking beats and suggestive worlds of sounds, well worth checking out". " ... simply gobsmackingly excellent ...." Robert Heller, Mixmag. Does anyone know any more about Society, any of their other releases? Aless

Krister Linder is better known for his last year's Tupilaq : 'Volver EP' on Dot. So, if Society is anything similar to Tupilaq stuff, then it is definitely worth record. It seems Krister puts out really much of his music... but all is pretty hard to find because it's all on small labels from Sweden. I remember someone's earlier post had Krister's discography... it would be great if someone has it and can post it to me in private. thanks. bye rob

Krister Linder has another project called Yeti. Check it out at: http://www.superstudio.nation.se/vit/yeti/ The album "Holtkötter" is brilliant. For more info about Society, go to: www.ruc.com "Riding her" is also featured on the compilation "Monolithic Minds", which is a milestone of swedish drum'n'bass. I also have to recommend "Monolithic Minds II". Not only because I am a member of Juicehead which has one track on the album, but it is also a great compilation including artists like Quant, Friend, Spinform, Eclectic Bob, Grand Nip, Yoga, Baxter, Darchives and Perphane. *********************************************** * * * Fredrik Östling * * email: fredrik@audionaut.com * * * * JUICEHEAD, MNEMOSYNE: * * http://www.audionaut.com * * * ***********************************************
