DIVERSITY we are disappointed to declare that most people who appreciate the Aphex Twin's work (actually, not just him, but many other "intelligent dance musicians" -- to us, IDM is a meaningless snob term used to degrade other dance music which may not be as cerebral but is just as or even more enjoyable to listen to!) are a cowardly and unfaithful lot. they doubt their musical idol's releases until they are officially cast upon the world, and speculate like swollen pigs about what he wrote and what he didn't write. face it. the man is diverse, and you cannot say "so-and-so MUST be Aphex Twin because of blah-blah-blah". you cannot pigeonhole the man, face it. accept him for everything he does well. take Flim from the Come to Daddy EP as an example... do you know how many of you Aphex listeners were idiotic enough to dismiss this beautiful tune as "airplane muzak garbage" before it actually came out? all of a sudden, you changed your opinions! surprise suprise, and shame on you, shame upon your aired-out little heads. just like Mr. James is, we're all embarassed that although you claim to adore his work, you miss the point of what his music is really all about: 1) enjoyability 2) exploring musical innovation through DIVERSITY 3) pissing people off point taken. thank you, all you Aphex Twin listeners who appreciate DIVERSITY...

So you say the song sucks. But there is no reason just to doubt that it is aphex just because it does suck. He's made sucky music before and I'm sure he'll do it again. All that you know is that it wasn't what you were expecting, whether in style or in quality, and thus you declare its fraudulence. Having not heard the song I can offer an objective viewpoint--seeing these posts, first the address, then praise, then "you need to check your head if you think this is aphex," the whole thing is actually quite comical. I can visualize those who doubt the song just because it's not what they expected, I can see them running around, hands on cheeks, aghast at what may or may not be aphex. I sit and chuckle. Hee hee. --Geoff
