someone was wondering why we like ae so much. i can't say authoratatively that they're the best, but when they first arrived, NO ONE sounded like them. ae stuck out like a sore thumb on the first AI comp, which is why they were all the talk at the time. also very few artists manage to successfully blend hip-hop, Arthur Baker electro, Miami Bass, bleep techno and zoviet france industrial type stuff into an original style of music. on a personal note, ae were the first IDM i had heard, namely "lanx 3" off of Volume 8. thereafter, their mix of St. Etienne along with their new EP at the time "Anti" really blew me away. the subtle melodies that you have to stretch your brain to hear atop the mountains of crunchy samples still do it for me :) anyway that's why i like ae... -Mike
