Okay, after thoroughly scouring the web I am in need of assistance. Just yesterday I bought a CD from '94 by the artist Radial Blend called _Abandon Time_ on the Suburbs of Hell label. After listening to it completely, I was amazed with the CD. It is very reminsiscent of early Black Dog and Autechre, but still puts a unique twist on things. After looking in the credits, I saw the person behind the creation is a "D. Benford". That name sounded very familiar and I realized that this person is also responsible for the Si-{cut}.db guise. I own the Si-{cut}.db _Nuisance_ CD, which is also on the SOH label. The CD is a different beast altogether and leaves me a bit more cold in the way Phoenecia or recent Autechre does at times -- not a bad thing, just a different feeling. I personally like the Radial Blend CD a lot more, though, which is honestly one of the strongest releases I've bought in months. Anyway, after looking at the inserts from both CDs I noticed that D. Benford goes under quite a few names: Phoenix Jig, Media form, Radial Blend, Strobe Flower and Si-{cut}.db. These aliases appear on the SOH and Pan labels. With so many contributions to SOH, I'm wondering if D. Benford owns the label? There used to be a SOH page on Hyperreal apparently, but it no longer exists as far as I can tell. Also can anyone tell me about Pan? After searching the web, I was only able to come up with the following URLs: http://www.sleepbot.com/ambience/page/benford.html This page has some soundbites from Media Form. Also: http://www.dfuse.com/charts/djsprawl12.htm which lists a Dec. chart of music from Douglas Benford (now we know what the "D" stands for). So he's a DJ at Sprawl in England on top of everything. I'm guessing some of you UK IDMers must be more familiar with Douglas Benford then? I can't believe there is not a page somewhere dovoted to the works of Douglas Benford with so many releases out there. I know Sean Cooper posted a glowing review of _Behind You_ on SOH from Si-{cut}.db awhile ago and he was also in search of more information about this mystery person. I'll stop blathering now, but you get the idea... help. Thanks! To clear up the confusion, Douglas Benford runs Sprawl Club and the Sprawl label (name changed from Suburbs of Hell a few years ago) out of London. And yes, his music IS brilliant! He recently did another full length album on the Sprawl label called Pantune's Music which is really quite yummy! Aaron
