There was some questions on how to remove the high-pitched click in the end of tracks on audio CD-R. This is forwarded from our mastering/editing man Olli Niemitalo (Haukipudas, Finland): ---- I have used Cool Edit (can't remember the version) to edit the WAV files I then have written on CDR-discs. The problem was, Cool Edit writes an identification code to the end of each WAV-file it saves. This identification code is then written on the CD with the sound data and when played, sounds like a sharp 'pop'. Solution: use some program that doesn't write any endcode to the WAV-file. Or: Use CEdit or some other hex editor to replace the identification code in the WAV-files with zeroes. ---- Hope this is of help. -- christian s. larsen aka beacon/sublevel3 --------- visit our ambient den http://www.sublevel3.org ----

hi all, there's a much easier way to fix the click problem: when burning the CD, your burner software will give you the option "disk at once". if you select this, the audio tracks will be written on disk without leaving the usual 2-4 seconds between tracks that are inserted by default. AFAIK, it is this blank insert that produces the clicks. there's no need for these. also, if you have tracks that are flowing into each other, disk at once is the only way to avoid pauses between tracks. cheers, --tom On Mon, 24 Nov 1997, Christian Stigen Larsen wrote:

That helps when the tracks don't end&start at zero crossing. But, disc-at-once does not automatically remove the "gaps"=pauses between tracks, not in Gear or Easy CD at least. -olli -----End of forwarded message----- -- christian s. larsen aka beacon/sublevel3 --------- visit our ambient den http://www.sublevel3.org ----
