I was shopping at a record store on St. Mark's Place in NYC and spotted a
guy setting up a sequencer. Realized I recognized his face. It was Mike
Paradinas. Total coincidence. I bought "Lunatic Harness" and he was nice
enough to sign it. He was setting up a tablefull of equipment for an
in-store performance.
He did a brilliant set, about 45 minutes long, pretty loud and overdriven,
superfast d 'n' b stuff. Must have been mostly from the new CD, which I
haven't heard yet. He twiddled knobs, which for the first time seemed
like a real performance to me. In comparison, Banco de Gaia twiddled much
less impressively when I saw him about a year ago.
The same store, Kim's, had a bunch of copies of Skampler for sale. Picked
it up, haven't listened yet.
Take care.
