Planetary Assault Systems (aka Luke Slater) The Electric Funk Machine Peacefrog PF063 I love this albumn. I think it's the best thing I've picked up all year. Crushes your Autechre. Blows Speedy J out of the water. The new Squarepusher is good but doesn't measure up. It's all about Luke Slater. 01. SEARCHIN' 02. THE MENACE 03. EXPLORATION OF THE RAVISH 04. THE RETURN 05. THE DREAM 06. THE BATTLE 07. SIGNAL 08. SHAKEN 09. SHAKING Not your average intelligent music, some of this stuff could make it to the floor. Features thickly layered repetitive ass-kickin techno beats with slow variations in tempo and rhythym. SEARCHIN is upbeat and pretty melodic. THE MENACE is dark heavy kickdrums that slowly builds. EXPLORATION OF THE RAVISH is minimal and a bit more ambient, but still in the techno vein. THE RETURN is also an nice upbeat tune. THE DREAM is lame noodling ambient garbage. THE BATTLE is dark heavy acid beats. THE SIGNAL could be my favourite. It features this really cool volume modulated riff. SHAKEN is slightly acidic and trancey. THE PARTING is the cool-down piece better then THE DREAM, but not a feature of the albumn. I'm not sure if you can tell how much I love this albumn by the 3 postings I've made about it. But it's mmmmm mmmmm good. freshie Paranoia: The choice of a Tech Generation http://silly.com/~tang
