Yup. Carl's one of the Detroit pioneers and innovators, up there with
Derrick May and Juan Atkins (and Kevin Saunderson, and Eddie Fowlkes,
and...)

Well, if you're looking for Detroit techno, the place to be (virtually) is
Submerge. Located in the heart of Detroit, they have the best Web-based
record store around for the city's music (www.submerge.com).
Suggestions? Try Carl Craig's "Psyche/BFC: Elements 1989-1990" compilation
for more great stuff by him. If you're looking for a good overview of
current artists, the "Beyond the 3rd Wave" compilation on Astralwerks is
probably a decent choice, since it's got tracks by 10 different Detroit
artists.
Labels to look for include Metroplex, Transmat, Planet E (record labels
owned by Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Carl Craig, respectively).
This is just the tip of the iceberg, of course - keep looking, and I hope
you enjoy the stuff you end up getting.
