This is a great little record - distant, reverb swamped melodies and Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT flanging trip-hop breaks. A pretty unique sound.

This was what used to irk me about Mu-Ziq - IMO the cheesey, simple stuff used to pale next to the futuristic techno on _Bluff_ et al. However, on Friday night he pretty much blew all that away with his drum'n'bass stuff which is fucking storming. The PA was distorting away making each track kick like a... like a kicking thing. I preferred it to the live Aphex stuff actually (although I'd heard the Aphex material live before at the Sheffield gig). Really good, although what the tracks sound like on vinyl (as opposed to a clicking, popping PA) might be a different matter. Anyway, for the first time since the _Phi_ 12", I'm looking forward to new Mike P. output, namely _Urmur Bile Trax_. No doubt James S. will have something to say about the gig as he was shouting and cheering like a loon the whole night :) || [CiM] || simonw@ftp.com || http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Alley/4492/
