RDJ's comments about the current attention span makes perfect sense. Even Brian Eno argues that it's harder these days to ingest a 70 min CD all at once than it was to ingest a 15-30 min side of an LP. -Mike Stein mps2@cec.wustl.edu

Now there's a first...

Well, all I have to say is..bullocks! I don't think many people here on IDM have attention deficit disorder considering the length of many of the better releases of IDM have gone well into the 50-70 min. range consistently. There is only an attention deficit in society as a whole, and besides, that doesn't explain his previous outings being of longer duration. I think he's tooting his mischievous mouth again B.S.-ing like he usually does in interviews. I think the length of this new album (and single) are indicative of him capturing this particular style of his. HAB series tracks were quite short (yet complete) in comparison to his other styles but he's perfectly cabable of doing the longer tracks.. he chooses not to on this album though. I just hope this isn't a hint of things to come from him; I think he has a real knack at songwriting and I love to hear those long moving tracks (AcridAvidJam is a great example, clocking in at 7:14). Other IDM artists are still putting out consistently long tracks (beside maybe Black Dog, M4Adverts ref.) and I don't see anyone changing the dial as a result. I think short tracks are a bit of a tease, but when they are meant to be that, it can be quite nice. Inkey$ is a perfect example: It stands fine as it is but does leave me wanting it to last another minute or so; but that is just my point, I think that is what he wants to do with these short tracks. RDJ's at it again. -- FreyGuy <Everyday is FreyDay> LAN Administrator Hansen Corporation / A Minebea Group Company "Mmm, you taste so intelligent!" - Pharcyde KevFrey@evansville.net --------- Kfrey@nyx.net
