After several careful listens to the Jega/Skam I'm starting to entertain some musical detective instincts...I might go so far as to point the finger at Mike P. himself. I know Greg(3) asked us to identify the "u-ziq sample" (from Mu-Ziq VS. The Auteurs?) but isn't this whole SKAM shrouded in secrecy? Things to think about... 1. Wasn't Mike P. living @ home? (If not, where was his flat?) 2. A dedication to "mother"? 3. THAT DISTORTION! What else? Teep

Come on Teepy ol'chap sounds nothing like Mr.P (who in any case is living in his own house with girlfriend and kid now :) despite (or because) of the samples. Jega is doing stuff that Mike hasn't done for a long time now. Listened to the Cylob LP properly for the first time last night. very nice indeed. tuff uk techno at it best. one for the purists amongst us. sqpsh at Blue note was incredible, think every eq setting was at +11 so the whole thing just blurred into one great orgy of bass driven static. *sigh* rich amused us with some 1991 hardcore classics and some strangely familar test pressings. dunno what luke did but certainly didn't play live :( Crowd was interesting. Normski was there which bizarrely (and annoyingly) is my outstanding memory of the night. g.
