the technology for the virtual party is not too far away. check out tactile studio's insanely cool demo called tactile1200 at: http://www.crl.com/~tactile/demos.html. it's a photorendered animated pair of 1200's complete with pitch control, thumbdrag, mixer with crossfade. there are two decently slamming locked grooves running which you can beatmatch or trainwreck to your heart's content. not exactly like the realthing, but it sure attracts some looks when you go for a quick jones on the powerbook on the plane. they even have a shockwave applet version now. take tactile1200, realaudio, cu-seeme, cthugha, a couple of rolls of duct tape and a shitload of bandwidth, and we can almost pull off the virtual vibe. does anyone out there have the technical knowhow to cobble it together? ob content on now: drexciya: davey jone's locker : from true people. peeeeeeece, Jeff Davis <pHlow> ____--~~~~~~vvvv~~~~ oooooo 812.831.7846 jjdavis@xnet.com____---- ( ( ( vvvv ~~~~~~ooooooooooooo ___----( ( \ \ \ \ \ vvv oooooooooooooooooooooooooo ____---- ( \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ http://www.xnet.com/~jjdavis/

there's a much better project on the way with full interactivity. it's called mixman and i was pleased and privileged to contribute a track to it. (also features stuff by freaky chakra, deluxe, dubtribe, bassbin twins and more...) check out http://www.mixman.com/ the demo only runs on windows 3.1 right now but it is SMOKIN. we actually had a club night to debut it and more people were dancing to the sounds coming out of the computer than the DJ downstairs... -j-
