On Mar 20, 9:53pm, you proclaimed: } any desicions on where to meet before dreamfishing on the 26th...i'm told } there's a FMrave that nite too/..how many are going? I'm not sure my plans for that night so any semi-official gathering at my place is on hold, but I'll let people know as things come together. } what's up w/ the space its being held at, i know its 21+, but is it at some } cheez venue w/ hay & peanuts on the floor or what(i think that would kinda } add personally). Mr.Behlendorf doesn't seem to like it very much... 174 King St. is a hallmark in the SF club/rave scene, having been one of the first places for parties like Toon Town and Carefree. It's always been 21+, but as of the past two years or so they had been really unpermissive in terms of letting underage people sneak in (probably more the fault of local police politics than anything else - it butts up against new edge-of-downtown yuppie developments these days). Recent management has also really pushed alcohol sales as a main way of generating revenue, to the point of shutting down a party some friends of mine were trying to throw because no one was giving the bar their business. Anyways, I personally feel that the 21+ barrier is a very divisive force in the scene here, and just because of my personal politics I don't want to try and give my business to places that support it. I will be 21 on the 30th of this month, but even after having crossed that barrier I won't suddenly decide 21+ is okay. I do understand that local city politics makes having all-night parties be 18+ a very difficult proposition, so if a club is 21+ but has a policy of allowing under 21's in under certain conditions (like at 1015 Folsom way back when they would let 18+ in after 2am when the bar closed) or is actively trying to get their 18+ license, then I don't mind going to them. So anyways, this is what I recommend and might possibly do myself: go to the 3rd anniversary full moon on Saturday night (don't know where it'll be) and go to the Eighth House party where Mixmaster Morris and Laura and Jonah will be spinning at on Monday night (9pm-3am, Morris spinning in the ambient room for 3 hours, Laura and Jonah doing 90 minute sets, other techno DJ's). Of course, if you are traveling from out of town and can only be in for the weekend, and are really interested in seeing Pete Namlook, then go to the Saturday night party. Brian
