my view on this is that such a poll wouldn't suffer from waiting a
bit. like two years or so. in two years a certain amount of
perspective will exist - all those 1999 records that now, five days
after the end of 1999, will have paled a bit: just like those
released in 1997 may not seem as interesting now as they did in
january 1998...
what i'm saying is, if you do a "best of the decade" poll now, it
will probably be quite a bit slanted towards the end of the decade.
on the other hand, nobody's going to have the patience to wait two or
more years (to really get some perspective i wonder if you wouldn't
have to wait, like, ten years...). so why not, let's do a poll now -
we can always do another later...
