Hi, Roland. When I played with Jimmy Edgar the Audio.NL release was just about to come out and he said that was all done with patches he designed and then he introduced viruses to. He had only recently been signed to Warp, so we didn't talk about what he had forthcoming there, though he did say that Warp were treating him very well and he was very enthusiastic about the deal. Live-wise he ran his sequences in Logic and then jammed over them with an Oxygen 8 keyboard (he's a damn good player--reminded me of Prince what he was coming up with); he also had a second laptop that he used to run live visuals. Re: my stuff: I try to make all my albums related around a concept as opposed to just throwing a bunch of tracks together and calling the result an "album" (More Destructive Than Organized is about religion and war, Physical and Mental Health, plus Environmental Politics, and Take Nothing For Granted are about the environment and the way we abuse it plus how we abuse our own selves, as is the forthcoming Just Because You Can Doesn't Mean You Should; 74'02 and Consumer Vs. User--forthcoming on Phthalo-- are about consumerism, Remembering Jason Trenholm--forthcoming on Bip-Hop--is related to memories of my best friend Jason Trenholm who passed away January 1, Highest Common Denominator is about working with others to create something even better than what the two separates could have achieved; Reciprocess Vol 3 forthcoming on Fallt/Bip-Hop is a collaboration between myself and Montreal's I8U. Basically, my songs tend to be socio-political in theme and I use related field recordings usually as their basis). I do a mix of styles--techno, tech house, electro, idm, dub, ambient, microsound, etc (not a fan of labelling music, but it makes it easier in certain circumstances)--and try to keep things non-predictable and as non-sequenced sounding as possible (I do most of my stuff by jamming and then cutting and pasting the results as opposed to straight up sequencing a track from start to finish; the majority of Sprung was done like this; ditto for my live shows--I try to make them as unpredictable as possible and different each time). Thanks for the interest. Take care. Andrew -- Jason Trenholm was born 31 August 1969 and died 1 January 2004. We met when we were 5 years old; he was my best friend for the next 29 years.***** Andrew Duke releases out now: Take Nothing For Granted http://cognitionaudioworks.com Environmental Politics http://and-oar.org Sprung http://bip-hop.com *Canadian electronica album of the year nominee* More Destructive Than Organized http://staalplaat.com Highest Common Denominator http://pieheadrecords.com Physical and Mental Health http://dialrecords.com 74'02 (split with Hypo) http://tsunami-addiction.com http://cognitionaudioworks.com
