I will second the Jeff Noon. Vurt was amazing, Pollen was better. Haven't read any of his more recent stuff, but I want to! While we are pimping out our favorite Sci Fi, one guy I saw missing on the lists was Cory Doctorow. He's a new guy on the scene, but definitely really good. He recently published a great novel called "Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom". Takes place in Disneyland in trans/posthuman (no death) time. Money doesn't exist and instead the world operates on a sort of fluid system of cultural currency and reputation called "whoofie". Anyway, one of the coolest things about the book is that not only was it published in hardcover, but its also avaliable for download entirely for free in a plethora of formats. Download it here: http://www.craphound.com/down/ It operates on this interestiing derivative of copyright that I don't know enough to talk about but you can find more about here: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd-nc/1.0/ Maybe there is something for music labels to glean from this. -Aaron
