it's an interesting point brought up here, and yes, those figures are rather depressing as i think more people ought to be into what mike's releasing... but then again, i can understand. IDM is all of what?? hardly ten years old?? punk rock is 25 years old. i really feel that the genre has a lot of room to grow, and needs a lot of time to do so. the genre has still barely even broken into the states. i figure in another ten years, those figures will triple without any problems. it's also a good point that there's really only ONE big label that's mostly IDM (warp). after that there's a huge gap in the amount of promotion/sales/etc... i think mu, cco, morr, and schematic are probably the big ones after that... so warp presses 50,000 - 100,000 copies, and then it drops to 3,000 - 4,000 ?? give it time is all i can say... we're just getting started. mick. acre. ----- Original Message ----- From: "h0l -" <h0l211@hotmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, June 24, 2002 5:02 PM Subject: [idm] grumpy warp tour curmudgeons + planet mu sales figures.
