kpu.009 :: Phasmid - 'Damn Right That's My Volvo'
'Straight out of the dirty south, Kell Simon aka Phasmid presents us
with two tracks that are a little off the beaten Phasmid path. Gone
are the gentle musings and sweet melodies that are typical Phasmid
fare; these two tracks are full of squeaking sounds, bubbling bass
lines, and (did we really hear it?) almost a house beat or two.'
kpu.008 :: Eric Laurence - 'One'
'We are showcasing American electronic talent Eric Laurence as our
eighth release here at kikapu, and with this EP Eric shows us what he
is all about - smooth, ethereal melodies interlaced with sleek drum
programming and a heavy dose of cut-up samples; much akin to our first
release by cellular. While busy with other projects, including
starting up his own record label, Eric was kind enough to share these
new tracks with all of you. Download, listen, repeat.'
kpu.007 :: Gen_Des_Com - 'Ready State Machinery'
'Welcome to the exhibiton, folks. The General Design Commission, aka
gen_des_com, aka Red Antenna label-head James Reeves, seeks the clicks
of the office, the clangs of the factory, and occasional moments of
diplomatic melody. The rationality of his new EP has a seductiveness
that operates as a kind of subterfuge, threatening to obscure the human
cost of industrialization. Or so they say.'
