If you're doing this, especially from someone you don't know or don't have any
reason to trust, you should probably use an escrow service. I've seen it
recommended for any purchase >$100 though that may be extreme. Even sellers
with high reputations on ebay have been known to one day take all the money and
cash out. I don't know what escrow services are supposed to be good these
days, though.
