haha i was a bit unclear in that email about presenting v. presence. i'm
discussing the actual music, not the artist. the music presenting something
v. the music actually BEING the presentation. in other words, is the music
telling a story about the past or the future [lyrically or via the actual
notes, as is the case with composers like Shostakovich and Vasks], or is the
music telling only itself--is the music meant to project or be the
projection?
