I doubt anyone is actively giving out email addresses; rather, occam's razor suggests that these people who are sending out junk mail noticed that a lot of people who might be interested in their music communicate on these lists, and then just trolled the lists for email addresses. All you'd really need to do is download a few months' worth of the archive, and then use one of those email-addy skimming programs through the file. It'd pick up tons of email addresses for everyone who participates on the list. However, if you subscribe to the list with a separate address, and never post with that address, so there is no where on the net that that address actually appears, visible to the public (like an archive), then if you get junk mail at that address, it's probably safe to assume that someone with access to the subscribed addresses gave them out... -Adam --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
