glad it was said. i've liked autechre for years and i must say, the-king-with-no-clothes-on springs to mind.. i seriously wondered at the time if there was an intentional joke being played. yawn. the music has been simplified to the point where only the 'quality' of the sound would have given the music any substance.. and that didn't seem to be particularly outstanding either, though i'll be interested to hear the new vinyl.. (incidentally, hunt down Henri Chopin's - Le Corpsbis & Co, if you want an example of squelch and pop that almost breathes with life.. and which happened to be recorded decades ago..) i left the set early feeling drained and ready to catch television.. and not knowing their material very well (cept a few listens to the essential marquee moon) felt that knowing the songs would have added to the night - perhaps showing some weakening with time? -- **but** their final song, 20 minute+ version of marquee moon made the hair stand on end as rock ruled again and the souls were fired.. my pick of the weekend - the sun ra arkestra playing a relaxed but utterly out-there set proving to any disbelievers that they are truly from outer space.. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
