My kids are 6 and, as of today, 1 (happy birthday A.V.!!)
Younger children tend to be free from the need to be judgmental regarding
music. Simply put, if it has an appealing rhythm or melody, or both, they
are going to like it, and don't really care what label is applied to it.
Kids will also tend to follow the lead of what they see others enjoying.
Thus if you dig Ae, odds are your kids may show a fondness for "anvil vapre"
or one of those other grammatically challenged titles. My 6 yo enjoys
equally Britney Spears, BT, Gus Gus, Barney, Ultra Vivid Scene, Hybrid
(particularly "If I Survive," despite the morbid subject matter, which
probably goes right over her head), and The Frank & Walters. (I know, I
know...the unbearably hip will say there's no difference among all of these.)
On the other hand, she hated Material's "Seven Souls" because Wm Burroughs
scared her.
The kid likes "We are the Music Makers" from SAW vol. 1.
