I had the oportinuty of talking to Markus about 2 years ago, when he came
rolling down to San Diego with Jim O'Rourke. And least to say, Markus looks
like a very serious person, even when he was onstage he looked sad. As far
as the interview went, he was very corteous, answering the questions in the
best english he could (as I dont speak German), but always serious like, I
even made jokes at him and he never smiled (maybe my jokes were real bad).
But one of the things I will never forget is his sad face when processing
his sound from his laptop. As soon as he finished his set, he just walked
of the stage and disappeared. I dont know, maybe that's the way he is ...
people should not have any expectations whatsoever from other artists, in
the end they are just as human as you and me. They also must have bad hair
days as well.
Also, another serious looking person is Mika from Pan_Sonic, he also looks
like he is very sad. In the end, some friends and I made him crack a big
smile and he ended up buying me and a friend some beer. I met him again last
May in London, and even though he remembered me from San Diego, this time he
did not smile.
cheers,
the always smiling ejival
