I was here back in the day and although the average age (and everything that
comes with that) on the list seems to have dropped, group psychology still
reigned supreme then. I remember this list being a bit tighter, but we still
had arguments, we still complained about labels and MTV and we still got
off-topic as much as we stayed on course.
As my one concession to the past, though, I will admit that the list used to
be more musically useful than it is now. and, of course, if that's the point
of the whole thing...

uhm, i've been here for six years, seems like longer.
i can't believe i was only 16 or 17 when i joined this list..
no real reason for this post, except to stand up
for my veteran status.
you know, back in 1994 there were only about five idm artists,
two or three idm labels, mature discussions regarding
"experimental electronic music" (aka, idm), whatever ended
up on PJ's weekly list @ modernmusic usually ended up being
good, nobody dared get on stage with only one piece of equipement
(except for aphex), absolutely nothing was released in the US (except
for a few odds and ends), panacea was fat, warpnet only took
1.6 seconds to load, autechre could be found
in the "new age" section at most tower records, and i felt like i was part
of a small online community that shared the same interest in
"experimental electronic music"; where as now, sometimes i wonder
if people were accidentally subscribed to this list due to some cruel joke
from somebody on the underageglowstickravers@hyperreal-lists.com list.
either way, just in case your sharp z-830 copier
won't turn on, remove the power supply
from the machine and check the voltages. remove
the main board. replace the C4 capacitor on the
upright converter board. replace it with a 100 mfd
at 50 volts. the original cap is a 100 mfd @ 25 volts.
the new one will last longer. ha! let's see lexaunaculpt do that!
