I am suspect of any writer who feels that music of any sort "lets us down". How exactly does music "let us down"? What kind of expectations are there? And who the hell is "us"? The task of criticism and reportage has been taken too far when statements like this one pop up. While I can appreciate that there is a significant amount of poorly made music out there, this does NOT mean that the amount of well made music must need decrease in any proportion. The two are unrelated. No, I haven't read Mr. Echlin's curricula vitae, but I can still be disappointed by his sentiments. Music deserves better. And so do we. J "You should dream more, Mr. Wormold.
