People that organized Mutek also are involved with Montreal New Media
Festival, which always has great music events also (more centered on
audio/visual as it's a New Media Fest). Last year was Ritchie Hawtin,
Locust, Scanner, Farmers Manual, Tomas Koner, and loads more. I think it
runs for 2 weeks middle of October.
As for Mutek. Had a great time. Good to see such good turnouts. Pole &
Kit Clayton were my personal highlights. Also thought Vladislav what's
his name was really excellent. Some woman from The Wire played an
afternoon DJ set which was amazing for it's sheer scope of the amount of
ground covered (with proper transition), from weird noise, to ambient, to
Johnny Cash, to hip-hop, to funk, to electric jazz, back to noise, etc...
