I am curious why you find it necessry to insult someone. You might have a point here (which in my opinion you don't) but all semblance of it is lost when you call someone a dipshit. But let us take a look at your argument. You suggest the writer contact the larger and more established electronic labels. Perhaps the writer wants to write about a release that take chances. He or she is not going get that type of release from the labels you mentioed. Of course that is a generalization but for the most part those labels release what is more marketable. There are exceptions (Innerzone Orchestra comes to mind). So in order for that person to get such a release they need to get promos from "small-ass labelheads". And because these "small-ass labelheads" are not high profile, the best way to do that is through a list such as this.

/ placing tongue in cheek Yes rolling stone magazine. A fine piece of journalism that is far more concerned with good music from independents than crass commercial music. Yes they are big defenders of all things experimental / removing tongue from cheek if you did "stoop to this crass level" you might actually get to write about something new and exciting. But instead gentle reader you get to read reviews of: Savage Garden - Affirmation Marilyn Manson - The Last Tour on Earth Various Artists - VH1 Divas Live/99 all of the above have or are appearing in rolling stone. Personally, I would rather "stoop to this crass level" than review Various Artists - VH1 Divas Live/99. But hey that is just one monkey's opinion. -daniel: Head Monkey: Mad Monkey Records: http://monkey.eliteware.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
