You obviously have no writing experience. First off, she's looking for new
writers with a little bit of experience, not professional writers.
Professional writers don't get jack as it is, and the only way you start
out as a writer is to write for magazines that are looking for
voluenteers.
I write for her said magazine, and I don't get paid. I've written for
magazines that have paid me, and after dealing with all the bullshit that
goes along with them, I prefer to write for a magazine that doesn't pay me
yet publishes what I write instead of assigning it and then shelving it.
The pay for writing is based on a per-word amount, and it's shit unless
you write for spin or rolling stone. When I figure out an hourly amount
for what I have been paid for writing, it's insulting. I do it because I
like it, so it's far more important to me to see it published un-tampered
than it is to get a rediculously small check.
So if you want to write because you think it'd be a hoot, feel free to
respond to her post. If you want to write to make money, heh, you're a
fool.
