I've just been trawling through some of my older compilations and wow, hardcore breakbeat is sounding incredible to me right now! Anyone else getting back into that not-quite-rave, not-quite-jungle hardcore on early Suburban Base, Moving Shadow and Reinforced? Great compilations, too: History of Hardcore 1&2, History of Our World 1&2, Drum & Bass Selection 1-5 (or so). Part of the fascination has been as a soundtrack for Simon Reynolds' Generation Ecstasy. Not that I agree with half of what Reynolds says (or more specifically, how he says it), but I'm beginning to understand his obsession with early hardcore. Thoughts? Additional listening suggestions? .John. NP: V/A-History of Our World, Part 1
