I was in the same boat. There are good record store on Hiaght that have nice people who like to rave. Also The Top (a bar on haight) has DnB on Tues that is good (don't be afraid to hear great music at bars, that's how it's done out there). 313 Richt street is deff. the place for IDM I just don't know when (electro most tues, it's called static). Also Spundeas is considered "Not cool" there but I had a blast when I saw Plastik Man (just be carefull it's sometimes in a rought nieghborhood). hope that helps!
