Just wanted to share a great flashback experience I've had today. Made a compilation tape for a friend consisting of some of the old Plug 1 & 2, Photek (K.J.Z. is one astounding track!), and some o the ol' Pusha... loadsa quality intelli. Anyways, the stellar track I think is a new one by Single Cell Orchestra, called Blockhead. Amazingly enough, I found both part 1 and 2 of the 12"s at Tower for like $6 a piece. Best $12 I've spent in the past couple of months. The gist of the track Blockhead is in the drum'n'bass vein, but done with a good brush of style. Lots of good tingy electronics going on. No venturing off into the graves of old school jazz and funk, just a slight variation of beat with lots to listen to. Goes very well with the other stuff on this tape, kind of in a contrasting way. Anyways, just thought I'd push and plug the massif to the tunez of SCO. Another great release. (The other three tracks are awesome as well...)
