The problem with the price of $45 for 2CD set is that it's available on
Japanese import only, and that's all because of the American major label
holding up what they have in their vault. Miles himself was complaning about
CBS/Columbia's no actions toward other materials. They have tons in their
vault.
In any case, "Agarta" and "Pangea" both recorded live in Japan in 1976(?)
are also funky and groove oriented, even ambient in a way. A studio
recording collection called "Big Fun" is really cool to the ears of IDMers.
Repetitive yet evolving, sponteneous and progressive. Miles was always
saying positive things to people who grooved and danced in his shows, rather
than snobbish jazz-know-it-alls.
