'ello this should be of interest to Stateside IDMers... DJ Aldo Bender of REACT has started a new label, AIRBAG. first two releases look very promising: TPower - Waveform Kumo - Kaminari both have been out in the UK for a while, gathering deserved accolades, subtly reshaping Drum n' Bass. especially the TPower LP. i'm sure there's plenty of talk about _Waveform_ in the IDM archives. suffice to say that it's a brilliant record, a true genre-confounder which takes the craft in entirely new directions. the Kumo album is less known, originally issued on Psychomat - a new Dn'B subsidiary of the mighty Plink Plonk. i remember it being hard to find and expensive. but here it is, in all its creative glory. Kumo (Jono Podmore) can't really be pigeonholed. his music is fluid and energetic, melodic and rich. complicated but easy on the ears. a beautiful album, and one which may finally receive the attention it deserves. it's nice to see US labels taking interest in actual albums - as opposed to the usual haphazard compilations of Euro-only 12" tracks. i know that i'm going to direct future (re)lease suggestions to Airbag; if anyone would like to do the same. if anyone would like to join me (maybe we can petition for the release of favorite o-o-p or hard to find titles...): 1-800-860-1917 / www.ulgonline.com/airbag. cheers!
