Well... uh... actually... Bill Laswell is currently working on a remix album of the work of ... (better take this sitting down) - Miles Davis. Miles was _the_ musical innovator of the second half of this century; I can't imagine he'd mind being remixed. It's only some of his old-time fans that play purist with his music; Miles was the original trend-setter / rule-bender / pioneer-mutant. "Bitches Brew" itself was despised by many Miles fans who were accustomed to his earlier be-bop style, just as many of those who loved his "Bitches Brew" style hated his later funk style, and what about his later incursions into pop-fusion, hip-hop, go-go...? The Miles method was the method of constant r/evolution. Bill Laswell, if anything, has a similar aesthetic, and I'm sure he'll do Miles proud, and probably annoy many Miles purists. I, for one, can't wait to hear the results! (Tone of child-like wonder off) 3
