I just finshed listening to Sculptured, so I give it a shot: First, a quote from the credits: "if you are familiar with my work then this album may seem slightly odd or out of context, but every now and then i need to step away from the norm." Yeah I'll say. This CD is the reason that programmable CD players were invented. About half of it is your usual Beau brilliance, there's a rap, a spoken word over ambience piece, a few Lida Husik collaborations, and this guitar/bass/drums track that I just can't stand. I listen to the straight ahead Beau material 1st, then the rap, theHusik, and the poetry. About 1/2 the time I hit eject during the Husik stuff (I'm not too fond of her voice). I bought Sculptured about the same time as Evening At The Grange, and it sort of soured me on Beau for awhile. Your mileage may vary. Buy it if you're a fan, but try not to expect the same as on his other albums. FWIW, I like Notions Vol.1, haven't heard Vol.2 yet. Che
