DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) developers are talking about storing 18 gigs on one disc. Which quick mental arithmetic tells me is enough for 30 hours of CD-rate music. Add in some kind of minidisc-style compression and you could have a whole week's worth of music in one purchase... All of a sudden the Aphex Twin LP argument seems very petty.. You can be sure no-one is going to be filling that much space in a hurry. I predict we'll see music bootlegging on a massive scale when this technology comes out - imagine the whole Warp back catalogue digitally copied on one bootleg disc for 20 quid.. Cheerio!
