I picked up a CD last week called "Electro Funk Volume 2". Here's the tracklist: 1. Clear (1990 version by Juan Atkins and Richard Davis)- Cybotron 2. What People Do For Money- Divine Sounds 3. Message II (Survival)- Grandmaster Melle Mel & The Furious Five 4. Computer Power- Jamie Jupiter 5. When I Hear Music- Debbie Deb 6. Fix It In The Mix- Pretty Tony 7. Mirda Rock- Reggie Griffin & Technofunk 8. Surgery- World Class Wreckin' Cru 9. Funky Soul Makossa- Nairobi & The Awesome Foursome 10. Looking For The Perfect Beat- Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force 11. Egypt Egypt- Egyptian Lover This disc reminds me quite a bit of growing up in Miami. Every time I'd go out somewhere, all the kids would have their "ghetto blasters" cranked to the max spittin' out the freshest, hippest jams, breakdancin' to the beat. It's given me a good perspective on the influences for Jedi Knight's remix of Link, plus the "May The Funk Be With You..." ep last year. I recommend this one though, because it's easy to get (got it at Best Buy), and it was cheap... $9.99. Are there any other recommendations from the peanut gallery that include good tracks from back then? I'd like to get a couple more... always the trainspotter me. :) onNow: the bloody TV. *switch*. Not anymore. =-) -- guyjr@cc.gatech.edu a.k.a., Guy Elden Jr.
