hmmm.. reading over this, i don't get the feeling that the reply was a personal afront.. in fact, i think it was a simple, informative statement.. it's true, acid is certainly not a new thing.. be happy, the replier could have bogged you down with references to early new wave acts, something that i feel is rather over zealous.. what he did was to remind everyone that the kind of stuff that many of these "acid innovators" are doing is not particularly original.. the entire plastikman sound is a continuation of the kind of stuff that Robert Owens did back in '85 ("in the land"), and the entire hard/trak acid thing was tried many times over by the likes of k alexi and poindexter.. Even the entire breakdown and 16th/32nd note snare build-up jerk off was already conceived by Conders in "nervous acid".. alot of people don't know this stuff and falsely praise the new jacks for a false genius.. however, this does not serve to criticize was has been done recently.. personally, the word acid and the word track can rarely be seperated, and a good track is always a nice addition to the dancefloor.. however, a good song (not necessarily verse/chorus) lasts forever.. i see the entire acid groove thing as simply functional, in that it's fun to sway too.. however, i don't see it as innovation.. the filter sweep is fun, but there's alot more to be done sonically.. Anywho.. the kid was not out to dis you.. he was simply correcting your misconception.. don't get frantic.. isn't this list here to teach us all something? .., ........, .........., .........., ........, .., B.U.a.R.P. http://students.vassar.edu/~jahodge/BUaRP.html
