Contents: Sixtoo's The Psyche Years hits the street. Mike Fellows' debut album imminent. Corker/Conboy new EP, film work and more. Einoma and State River Widening polishing tracks in the studio. Mysterious hip hop enticement. Spring is upon us and the Vertical Form garden is burgeoning once again. One luxurious bloom already available, Sixtoo's album The Psyche Years, which documents the prodigious Canadian alt.hopper's precociously brilliant juvenilia, has been garnering rave reviews. The man himself has just completed a prestigious North American tour in the company of Kid Koala and Amon Tobin. Sixtoo has recently been scooped up by London's Ninjatune imprint for whom he will soon release the Boxcutter Emporium 12" (featuring Can's Damo Suzuki, no less) followed by a full album, Chewing On Glass, the latter slated for a May unveiling. Not content with that, Sixtoo is also helming production of Sage Francis' upcoming album for Epitaph. Some typical press for The Psyche Years. "Moody and marvelous stuff...clear proof that geography is no bar to a grasp of the beats" (Time Out) "(Sixtoo is a) brilliant beat-maker, introspective storyteller, self-analyst and downbeat genius" (www.dot-alt.com) "Lyrically lucid and musically substantial... deep seams of jazz running through beats like granite" (Jockey Slut) "This could prove to be best retrospectives of 2004" (Flux) Vertical Form is pleased and excited to announce the upcoming release of Mike Fellows' new album. Well known to fans of the Silver Jews, Royal Trux and myriad other US underground greats, multi-instrumentalist Mike has also traded under the soubriquet, Mighty Flashlight. His newly recorded album, Limited Storyline Guest - the first to be issued under his given name - ornaments, by turns, gorgeous and wry songs of country-ish introspection with choice laptop manipulation. The album is currently being mastered by Pole's Stefan Betke and will feature disarmingly wonderful artwork by Jeremy Blake (of Punchdrunklove fame). Look out for Mike (under his Mighty Flashlight alias) at the upcoming All Tomorrow's Parties shindig. Soundscapers extraordinaire, Adrian Coker and Paul Conboy have been enjoying much deserved critical approbation for their recent Radiant Idiot album. Of course, Corker/Conboy don't 'do' laurel resting and the prodigious duo are shortly to release a brand new EP for Vertical Form. A first, as it will feature vocals (courtesy of the fearless Mr Conboy), the EP also promises lavish Radiant Idiot remixes by the likes of Xela, Derailer (John Matthias and David Prior) and Luke Innes. Press for Radiant Idiot: "Dense, tender instrumental post-rock, serious and incredibly well-turned, songs Radiohead might have made circa Kid A" (Q) "Hugely recommended" (Comes With A Smile) "A luminous, polyrhythmic flurry. Radiant indeed". (Uncut) "Textual possibilities...wordless, guitar-less compositions...Corker/Conboy do it brilliantly." (Jockey Slut) Currently applying the finishing touches to a new EP, Icelandic electronicists Einoma should be back to beguile their ever-swelling fanbase in July. The EP promises their trademark tectonic ambience and volcanic beats, this time tempered with a variety of new sonic elements... Later in the summer expect the first Vertical Form release by revered London instrumental trio, State River Widening. The band are joined by percussionist Howard Monk (Billy Mahonie), violinist Pam Ribbek and vocalists Anne Briggs and Ines Naranjo Navasso, on what promises to be their most expansive and sonically luxuriant offering to date. In addition, Vertical Form will shortly announce details for two very prestigious hip hop releases - one from a reputable Canadian gentleman and the other from a certain heavyweight US collective....
